A top producer changed his name for them. Kenny Beats - the man behind records by Freddie Gibbs, ScHoolboy Q, and Vince Staples - decided it was worth becoming ‘Kenny Blume’ just to work with Brooklyn’s Geese. The result proved him right.

Getting Killed is the band’s third album, having debuted when they were still in high school. The record is savage and beautiful at once - Cameron Winter’s voice and barbarically blunt lyrics, a rhythm section that hits like a physical force, Emily Green’s serrated guitar. ‘Trinidad’ lands like twisted scrap metal, ‘Half Real’ is an anthem for holding love close, and closing track ‘Au Pays du Cocaine’ is one of the year’s finest soul moments.
