The second part of the pentimento series presents eight new compositions by a musical visionary who continues his lifelong exploration of the possibilities of recombining and combining musical genes. Pentimento is defined as "the reappearance in the image of earlier images, forms or strokes that have been altered and repainted", and this is also evident in the innovative production style that "paints with sound" using overlapping hues to create an indefinable and intoxicating new palette .
Classically Hasselvian, the title can be interpreted in many ways, but perhaps the most appropriate one at the moment is the human instinct to sing and play in the rain of difficulties. Future blues of indefinite and ever-changing shape. The album features two more than eight-minute epics at the beginning and end - the hypnotic "Fearless", with a metronomic, almost Cano-like rhythm and a blurry, noir sound structure that emerges like car lights from the fog; the end of the record mirrors the gorgeous sci-fi lullaby "Timeless," a track with a fluid, floating quality as electronic clicks and bubbles float over a landscape of shimmering, ice-fast complexity. The bridge between these two worlds is no less captivating, from the frantic, spidery IDM sketch of "Reykjavik" to the sinking ballad "Unknown Wish." Although this record contains the seeds of classic "fourth world" fusion, the author is still looking for new forms and mutations of music on it, it is an exciting window into what music could sound like in the future world.
