Vole - Slibuji za všechny

The Prague punk storm Vole is back in the spotlight! Their fourth album, titled “Slibuji Za Všechny,” is set to hit the world’s darkness via Day After Records any day now. Like their earlier works, the album was recorded at Golden Hive Studio. Gone is the raw chaos of their early recordings, but not their audacity, wildness, authenticity, and conviction. This time, Vole has packed this explosive mix into eight slower, more clearly structured tracks—and where the band has slowed down, they’ve ramped up the intensity.

The songs are built on the powerful rhythm section of drummer Ondra Filípek and bassist Emil Prachař, the inventive playing of guitarist David Vála, who intersperses brutal riffs with distinctive solo motifs (it is precisely thanks to these venomous embellishments that every track grabs your ear literally from the very first note), on the voice of vocalist Tomáš Mitura (who also ventures into surprisingly melodic territory; in the album’s final track, he’s joined by guest singer Meggie from the band Bibione, with whom Vole shares a rehearsal space), and also on his lyrics. These don’t stray from the “loser” poetics of previous albums, but to a far greater extent than before, they touch on the pressing issues of the modern world.

As the band puts it in their own unique style in their acknowledgments: Thanks to all the losers, political idiots, and chronic complainers about the comforts of life in stinky, Central Europe! It’s mainly thanks to you that things here are only getting better. At the same time, we find it amusing that you can’t even pause for a moment to consider that other people are truly suffering. While you lick the wounds of your failed careers and embarrassing attempts to become the wealthy elite, other people here and abroad no longer have anything to live for. This is the future of our planet. This is also your future. That is why “I promise on behalf of everyone” that it will not end well. Neither for you, nor for us.
