William Basinski - Melancholia

Originally released a year after the increasingly cult album The Disintegration Loops, Melancholia is still William Basinski's second most popular album ten years later. Like many of Basinski's most moving works, Melancholia was created as a series of short tape loops captured in the early 1980s. Basinski then shelved them for decades and returned to them at another time in his life, when they acquired a new, stunning sound that many consider to be one of the best of the past decade.
